Between waking up to bubblegum skies, driving in my freshly washed car to the salon & ending the day with those snacks, after cotton candy skies...

It hit 92 yesterday & today is going to be 61. Texas you sure are a funny one, BUT we sure do love you. Tonight we are headed to The Oasis to watch our best friend & favorite singer, sing his heart out. We're excited to see his pretty wife & Tabber Cat (drummer, yeah I'm talking about you) too. I sure do hope your weekend is a lovely one. I'm planning on ours being just that. Happy weekend to ya.

warm weather finds // ikea

I'm not afraid to admit I like IKEA, sometimes. I can admit, I always like the lingonberry juice & their well thought out kitchens. Organization to me, is like unicorns to others (luckily mine exists). The other day I found myself on pinterest, surprised?, not one bit & pinned this. I'm sure most of you know patio furniture is always through the roof, so I'm always excited to see what Ikea has up their creative Swedish sleeve. This year they have me kinda EXCITED for summer...

Today is going to be 88!, so I'm kinda wishing I could make a trip to Ikea & make this inspiration board come to life. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your day & dream up a little design of your own. I'm off to get my hair done today, maybe something a little more summery? Happy Thursday to ya.

the glamorous safari

The other night we watched The Help & let me just tell you a couple things it did to me.
1. I now love Minny, for her "Let me tell you (wide eyed).." ways.
2. Can't help but want to squeeze that little chubby baby & throw a tea party with her. Teddy bears ARE invited.
3. Need to buzz Milly's head. Bald.
4. Want to hang out with the sweet bouncy blond, Celia, that can't seem to keep your gorgeous grounds maintained all by herself. Her energy & sweet heart is contagious.
p.s. If she would like, I can take over the place & show her how it's done.
5. Reinstilled my love for fringy umbrellas & every mid-century design.
6. Reminded me that a pool makes for a picture perfect backyard(with umbrella, of course).
7. Dream of a huge wagon with wood paneling. The large steering wheel & rear facing backseat has my heart happy for days. Pile in "future" babies & pups, we're going on a road trip!! And, I just died.

Babe we NEED that wagon. A 1960s Pontiac Safari with wood paneling to be exact. Oh yeah, a fringe umbrella in the back too.

build update

First I wanted to share her name, Ms. Clifford, Clifford for short. We get their names from their streets. So if you live in Austin & wanna check her out in person, search Clifford street in East Austin. Now for the update, she currently has an electrician working in her new wires. Over the weekend we placed our recessed lighting throughout the whole house. The plumber is coming this week as well as the HVAC guys. The garage door will be in this week too & the front door has been ordered. We actually have had some much needed rain the last couple days so the roofing was unable to be finished over the weekend, work starts back up on Thursday, allowing time to dry. The metal siding has a two week waiting period, boo. It's time to start picking out the details, our favorite part. Thanks for stopping by & stay tuned. Happy Tuesday to ya.

friday morning at home

Looks like I'm headed to the kitchen to do the dishes & then to the laundry room to do laundry. & jeez is his office corner boring, we better work on that. It's a rainy day around here which means, motivation is lacking. We are hoping to change that with a stroll around our neighbor, in between rain drops. Here's to a relaxed weekend with a side of party. You know, where I can wear my lipstick & pretty ring. Happy weekend to ya.

build update // who needs grass: xeriscaping

Yesterday we spent the day in the dirt making our rental oh so pretty & couldn't help but think about our future gardens. I can't wait for our future house to feel like an explosion of nature, yes an explosion. It's all planned out in this head of mine, trust me. Our build on the other hand is getting closer & closer to the garden design stage. We both agree that the front yard is more for show & in Texas there is no need for lots of grass being that we don't get lots of rain. BUT we are installing a rain water collection system in this build, you know, for when it rains. We already have our mind set on a xeriscape design filled with native plants for this builds front yard & the best native grass for the backyard, which has great tree coverage. Here is some inspiration I pulled together for our future design. Enjoy, but first these are the most recent shots(please excuse the image quality, his phone slid down a roof & needless to say, his camera didn't dig it) sent to me by him of our build.

The windows are all in minus one that will be added to the back left corner, leaving three small windows across the top left (window will be placed in the master walk-in closet). The hardie panel siding is already going up & we have picked out our charcoal metal siding. Today the metal roof is also starting to go up. She is coming right along, beautifully. Now for that inspiration..

yesterday

It started with mysterious fog & heart shaped strawberries. In between there was sunbathing & happy pups. Then there was tasty food & pen tattoos (I say let's make it real). Mixed in there like the raspberry filling for dessert, I purchased my very first lipstick, called voodoo. He brought me my favorite flowers home, we will plant them in our garden today & enjoy year after year. Then there was the little taped hearts.
